I am an online shopaholic. Don't get me wrong, I love stores too. But as a full-time working mom of two kids under the age of 3, I don't get out as much as I'd like. And what's not to love about not having to deal with pushy salespeople (or salespeople who ignore you), browsing at my own speed, and finding the best deals! So many sites also offer free shipping nowadays too.
What do I buy? Stuff for the kids, stuff for the house, stuff for me. That about sums it up. Sometimes stuff for hubby (not often). I LOVE getting a good deal (who doesn't?!) To be quite honest, I am the perfect consumer. Businesses love me. I'm the type of customer that opens their emails, clicks through, and shops their sites. I use Google when searching for a product, so the companies that buy Google AdWords often end up with me on their site. Yes, it does work.
Here's the problem - I have champagne taste on a beer budget. On my current wish list: Frye boots (The Paige), a new Michael Kors watch (Rose Gold) and a Burberry bag. That's a start. Soo not happening. Because I'm practical, and I think in terms of the amount of groceries those items would buy, or the contribution to the kids RESP's, or the fact that we kind of need to put in a pretty big fence this spring.
However, with two kids in full time daycare, a mortgage, day to day expenses yada yada, I can't exactly buy to my hearts content. I spend a lot of time 'window shopping' online. Which I love also. I can usually tell my friends where the best place is to buy something specific when they are looking.
I look forward to sharing some of my favorite sites with you.

What's your dirty little sleep secret?
Sleep. Such a dirty five letter word in our house.
Why?
We have a non-sleeper. Is it the baby? Nope. She sleeps on average 11 hours straight every night, unless she's sick.
It's our nearly 3 year old.
Over the past couple years, we've had bedtime battles, frequent night wakings (like every hour or two), difficulty falling asleep on his own (his self-soothing skills aren't great). He's never been a great sleeper, as a baby, he napped 40 minutes at a time, no longer. After the age of 2, he started to nap better. He's never been one to sleep past 6am, only on the odd occasion. He goes to bed at a good time, we have a consistent bedtime routine (bath, stories, cuddles, bed).
We definitely lack at consistency with the waking - and as he was our first child, are guilty of so many "dirty sleep secrets" - sleeping on his floor, sleeping outside his room etc. I know many of you have dirty little sleep secrets in your houses too! We've tried nightlights, transitional objects (lovies etc). Nothing seems to calm the hysterics we encounter every night. Every once in awhile, there will be a period of a week or two where he will sleep well, and we ask ourselves "Is it over? Is he becoming a better sleeper?" Then a setback (a cold or teething, moving to a new house, addition of a sibling) would put us right back at square one!
So now in our exhausted two working parent household, we have reached our breaking point.
And we are vowing to turn our non-sleeper into a sleeper! Tonight, hubby and I are sitting down to read the four part articles on toddler sleep from http://www.goodnightsleepsite.com/. Alanna has answered a number of my sleep questions over the past couple of years on her Sunday night sleep session on her Facebook page, so I think starting here is a good place.
Stay tuned as I will share our journey to become better rested, happier parents!

Re-viving the blog!
Ok, so I fell off the blog wagon. Started a blog when my first little person was almost 1. Then started a new job, got pregnant again (eek!), bought a new house, spent months selling the first house, moved, had baby, yada yada. But I'm back. Mostly because I spent part of each timing composing blog posts in my head that I never write. So I figure its a good outlet for my ramblings.
Here's my update in a nutshell. Kids are now 2 years, 9 months (boy) and 1 year old (girl). We live in suburbia, in a new build home (that needs lots of TLC which I hope to share as I try to DIY many things!), I work full time, am obsessed with online shopping, and still hope to lose the last 10 pounds.
I look forward to sharing my random thoughts with you all! :)
